Currency and banks

Legal currency is Dominican peso and indicated as RD$. There are different bills of 20, 50, 100, 500, 1000, 2000 peso. Coins represented by 1, 5, 10, 25 peso. Many shops set their own currency rate that is usually lower than in bank. ATM cash withdrawal is only available in Dominican peso. When changing money it is recommended to use service of currency exchange offices or banks.

Be careful! Avoid withdrawal of cash in outdoors ATM’s. If necessary, please use bank office or ATM in a hotel.


Cellular and internet

There are 3 main cellular providers on island: Orange, Claro and Viva. Calling to you from local phone is few times cheaper. SIM card is easily obtainable upon presence of personal ID.

Internet services are provided in all the hotels for extra fee. Some hotels have free Wi-Fi service. Consult with your representative in hotel on every single case.


Transportation and Car Rental

There are many Car Rental services. Usually driver’s license and credit card are what you need to rent a car.

Be careful! Driving in Dominican Republic is very chaotic and vibrant. Avoid driving around country without a real necessity. If you determined to rent a car refer to our representatives for assistance. Car reservation is available through Internet as well. There are offices of popular car rental services, such as AVIS, EUROCAR, Budget, etc.
